Skipton Church 1300 TOMB of George, 3rd Earl of Cumberland Principal burial place of the Clifford's after dissolution of Bolton Priory 1540. 5 Earls of Cumberland, 3 of their Countesses, and 4 children buried there. Home of the Coventry family. George Coventry, 3rd Baron Coventry married Margaret Tufton who was a grandaughter of Lady Anne Clifford and daughter of John Tufton, Earl of Thanet. Also, the ancestors of Stephen Clifford, our chairman, lived and worked on the estate since the 1600s |
